The sun felt good on my scales, a slight breeze with the smell of the sea made things seem alright but that didn’t charge our situation. We were stranded. The The Bellington could be seen off a ways in the sea, anchor down and leaning to the side with the broken mast. I saw Captain Bartlow moving about, waking people and trying to be confident and cheerful. He had is work cut out for him. We knew that if we were to survive we would need supplies, and we would need them soon.
Bartlow sent Telenger and Lawson to the East, hopefully to find the other dingy that had our other comrades. We ended up with Bartlow, Telenger, Lawson, McDouglas, and Charbath. We also had some of the passengers with us; there was Alex Romanov, Undrln Nudd, Kassik, and Sarrac Keil-Frezch (Skaf). They weren’t a bad sort but my personal priority would be to look out for my ship mates, though I ain’t thinking of shanking anyone in the night or fighting them during the day. Just survival. Ahhh crap, Bartlow just yelled at me and Charbath to accompany him and the passengers to go looking for food. We are leaving McDouglas behind to gather supplies that are scattered along the beach and in the surf.
The beach gave way to some light trees which quickly grew dense. It was nice that it blocked most of the sun but I could still feel the air condense upon my scales. I was getting rather slick when a slight rustling brought the party to a stop. Something was up ahead, the low lying plants shaking in the distance as it approached. The Gob, Undrln Nudd, decided it was a good time to activate his mechiarmor and the pieces of plate clanked into place, what ever was up ahead of us must have noticed because it stopped. Some of the members started sneaking forward and before I know it that Kenkku lobbed out gouts of fire into the forest. Squeeling from the underbrush was a wild boar, now on fire, and not very happy. I was startled and jump away but luckily others acted faster and put it down. I immediately jumped into the fire to try and put it out. Last thing we need is to be smoked off the island and what ever supplies could be found burnt. By the time I finished putting out the fire we noticed Charbath had gone missing.
The Captain started following some trail and we walked on for another hour until we ran into a stream. Apparently he lost the track a ways back but decided to just keep walking. It was nice drinking fresh water, and some people got the good idea to bathe. Those pink skins sure to start smelling after sweating all day. I thought I saw something move in the forest line so I move closer, peering about but nothing moves. Next thing I know a vine falls from above and wraps around my face, I can’t yell. More vines, I am being pulled, I try to fight it as long as possible but after a while I start to tire and the vines become tighter. I can’t see much, first the sound of the forest, then I enter something, darkness, then some slight light. The sound of a large thing moving about, slithering almost. It sounds like it…it is eating something, crunching and tearing noises. I smell death, the smell of flesh.
Noises come, The Captain! A fight takes place, I am cut down by Kassik but I am too weak to do anything. The Captain…NO! The plant creature just shredded him. Undrln Nudd was almost next but the rest of the passengers put it down in time. They are much more powerful than I thought. Charbath is next to me now, he is injured. We rest, I wonder how we will get out…
